DBJ Law Expands Voter Protection Operations

DBJ Law Powers Black Voter Matters Legal Support Network Outside Metro Atlanta

ATLANTA -  Georgia's Runoff Elections for both United States Senators and a Public Service Commissioner are Tuesday, January 5, 2021, with polls open from 7 am to 7 pm. In response to increased right-wing voter intimidation and suppression tactics, Davis Bozeman Johnson Law has expanded its voter protection legal support to include six areas outside of the Atlanta Metro area in partnership with Black Voters Matter.

During the November General Election, Black Voters Matter, a nationally acclaimed voter advocacy organization partnered with the firm for legal support for Albany, Columbus, and Valdosta. The firm has been selected to also provide legal support in Macon, Augusta, and Savannah responding to complaints and voter legal needs as reported to Black Voters Matter organizers. To report a complaint please contact 1866-OUR-VOTE.

“In addition to working with our historical legal partners to handle systemic voting irregularities like the Legal Defense Fund, Advancement Project, and ACLU, we wanted a Georgia based statewide firm with a history of fighting for our community. At this moment, we need lawyers with the courage to ensure our people’s voting rights are protected in southern Georgia where we have already seen election officials and law enforcement threaten to arrest and even arrest community activists and volunteers who are simply encouraging black folks to vote and provide voter comfort to all voters at voting polls. More than ever before we want to make sure our community has the backing of a legal team that has a history of fighting victoriously for our community.” April Albright, Legal and Compliance Director for Black Voters Matter Fund

“We are honored to be able to do this critical work with an organization committed to empowering people across the country. In this important moment in our state’s political history, we recognize the need to fan out across southern Georgia to ensure people’s right to vote.  It is fitting and necessary that we set aside business as usual, and deploy wherever Black Voters Matters need us.” Robert Bozeman, Founding Partner, Davis Bozeman Johnson.

Black Voters Matter Fund, is a 501c4 dedicated to expanding Black voter engagement and increasing progressive power. Black Voters Matter's goal is to increase power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities.
